My Mother

This site is devoted to my mother, Kristina Becker, and the works of art she left behind.
It is my privilege to share these works and her life with the rest of the world.
In death, may her art bring new life to her name and contributions,
so that her spirit can live on in all who enjoy and engage with these works.

Kristina Panos

Picture

Born August 7th, 1954 in Toledo, Ohio, Kristina Marie Panos was the younger of her twin sister, Tina. She was interested in art at an early age, but it wasn't until she moved to Colorado at age 21, where she discovered a land of mountains and magic, that her artistic spirit began to flourish.

After moving to Colorado, Kris met renowned and local artist of Manitou Spings, Charles Rockey ("Rockey")  who become a lifelong friend and mentor.
This is also where she met her husband, Robert Becker ("Klove") and started a family. Having two sons, Nikolas & Casey, she would eventually move back to Toledo after divorce and raise her two boys as a single mother.

The Tree

Picture

This tree held a special place in her heart, since discovering it when she first  moved to Colorado in 1975.  It would become a reoccurring theme in her art over the years, recreated in sketches, drawings, and paintings.
It represents the magic and love she had for this land of mountains and new beginnings.

The tree remains standing to this day in South Park, Colorado,
and is now the final resting place for Kristina Becker's ashes.

Works of Art

Picture
As an artist working over a period of four decades, she produced a substantial body of work, creating new pieces up until the very end of her life.
From drawings, to oil paintings, to pastels, and eventually digital painting, her bird paintings and portraiture work have also been exhibited in various galleries around the country from Vermont to Colorado, to Alaska, including her home town of Toledo and the prestigious Toledo Museum of Art.

Violet Adams

Picture
Kris invented an artist name for herself, "Violet Adams", which was a name she loved since childhood, eventually adopting it as an artist alias later in her life; particularly, when she began digital painting and joining online art communities.

Sketchbooks

Picture
The works found in her sketchbooks express more personal drawings, writings, and thoughts that reveal a deeper and emotional side of her life & work.
